BMI Reviewers

The main duties of members of the BMI Reviewers Committee are to review manuscripts submitted to the journal, submit their own scholarly work, recommend new members to the Reviewers Committee, suggest improvements to thematic areas, and disseminate the journal’s Call for Papers.
As a fully peer-reviewed journal, BMI requires submitted work to meet high academic and technical standards. Only manuscripts that pass rigorous peer review will be accepted for publication. Reviewers play a critical role by providing commentary, constructive criticism, and professional opinion on the papers they evaluate.
Researchers and authors whose expertise aligns with the themes of BMI are invited to participate in the peer review process.
The most important contribution of a reviewer is the written feedback transmitted to the author. On the review form, reviewers should provide a clear assessment of the significance of the ideas and/or results presented in the manuscript. Written comments must offer a thorough appraisal of the reported work, highlighting strengths and identifying areas for improvement.
Reviewers are generally expected to complete their evaluations within four weeks or by the due date specified in the review round.
If a reviewer is unable to complete a review, they should either recommend a qualified alternate reviewer or notify the editorial office immediately so the manuscript can be reassigned.
Reviews should always be constructive, providing actionable feedback to authors. Even when a paper is acceptable in its current form, reviewers are encouraged to suggest ways to strengthen and refine the work. Completed review forms must be submitted electronically to the BMI Managing Editor.
